The brief was to make room for the wider family during busy holiday periods, while preserving the cottage’s relationship to the street. Its generous, wide allotment allowed the addition to establish its own presence rather than simply extending the form of the existing bungalow.

A carefully defined entry separates old from new and creates a clear point of arrival. The newly built form addresses the street with its own distinct profile, while a driveway runs along the northern boundary to vehicle storage at the rear.
